Vimeo is a U.S.-based video-sharing website on which users can upload, share and view videos. It was founded by Jake Lodwick and Zach Klein in November 2004. They left the company in 2007 and 2008 respectively. The name Vimeo was created by Lodwick and is a play on the word video, inserting the word “me”. Vimeo is also an anagram of the word “movie”.

As of December 2011, Vimeo attracts 65 million unique visitors per month and more than 8 million registered users. Fifteen percent of Vimeo's traffic comes from mobile devices. As of February 2013, Vimeo accounted for 0.11% of all Internet bandwidth, following fellow video sharing sites like YouTube and Facebook.
